Getting The Best From Your Bath

Once in a while a lovely, long, relaxing bath is just what
the doctor ordered. Your cares float away on the bubbles,
the tension in your tired muscles just seems to evaporate.
So why is it that so often we cannot get what we need from
our bath? There is a range of problems to consider, from
the free fixes right through to the complete bathroom
overhaul.

First of all take steps to ensure the mood is right. An
important part of this is avoid disruptions, or even the
chance of something disturbing your relaxation. An easy
thing to do is unplug the phone or divert it to answer
phone mode. And what about hot water? Do you run out
thanks to all the kids using up the tank? If so then plan
your bath time when no one has gone before and depleted the
water store.

A real mood spoiler when bath time comes round is a
slightly mucky bath tub. There's not much worse than a
greasy or gritty bath against your skin. It can happen
even when you keep the bath spotless on a daily basis if
the other household members do not keep up your good work.
It may help if you can ensure the family members each wash
the bath out when they have used it - easier said than
done, perhaps. Tiles and the grouting between them, and
calcium encrusted taps, can be sorted out with the
specialized products available these days.

To get the mood right for relaxation you might want to
light a candle or two, and maybe burn some essential oil -
lavender helps a lot of people relax. Of course there are
plenty of bath oils and creams that contain these nice,
relaxing scents. Some people also like music while they
bathe - just be careful with the electrics since water and
electricity do not mix. Specific units designed for the
bathroom can be bought, or use something that is battery
powered.

All of the above suggestions are cheap and simple and
really can work well. But there comes a time when the only
solution is a complete overhaul of the bathroom suite.
This is especially true if you have been desperate to make
the change for a long time but lacked the spare funds or
the time to get the job done. Even if one of these
problems is still an issue, there are simple upgrades that
are quick and cheap. Changing the faucets for example, is
straightforward and speedy to implement and not expensive,
particularly if you shop smartly for special offers on the
web. Then when you do finally swap all the rest of the
bathroom suite you can keep these fine new taps for use
with the new purchases.

If you decide that the time has come to replace all the
bathroom fittings then you will find a great choice of new
baths. The main choices are the standard bath, a corner
bath, the freestanding bath, or a sunken bath. Of course
the big revolution in home bathing is the whirlpool bath -
a big unit with high pressure swirling water. These are
great if you can find one that meets your needs. Some of
these units will put a strain on your existing hot water
supply, so always discuss this with a plumber before making
your purchase. Whatever you decide, making the best of
your bath will make life that little bit more pleasurable.
